Yalla foundation is hiring volunteers!

Our foundation was established in 2016. Our mission is to contribute to an inclusive society, to create intercultural connections, and to stimulate bottum-up initiatives and other governmental and non-governmental organizations that support refugee integration. As such,

  • We actively build and moderate online communities, such as the facebook group ‘Refugees in Netherlands Nijmegen #feelconnected” where thousands of group members can connect to exchange resources and information
  • We support intercultural connection offline and cooperate with many organisations who have the same aspiration
  • We supply with and constantly extend our online information databases for newcomers on all relevant issues that are crucial for newcomers to settle in their new country, such as on housing, job search, study opportunities, learning the language, healthcare (www.yallafoundation.nl and www.welcometonijmegen.nl)
  • We lobby for smoother and more efficient integration procedures in which refugee’s and their interest is central
  • We advise municipalities, foundations, social initiatives, individuals and various other organizations on their communication strategy and help them develop their intercultural sensibilities

Yalla Foundation is looking for volunteers to fulfill several tasks within the organization . We are looking for like-minded people who see themselves contributing to achieve the above organizational goals and fulfill our mission. Do you both find one or more of the following activities inspiring and have the skills and experience to implement one or many of them? You are welcome to join for long-term and short term projects. We need support in the following areas (both short term and long term):


  • Application for funds and governmental subsidies
  • Managing the content of Yalla’s websites and social media content
  • Office management and day-to-day email communication
  • Consulting client organizations (municipalities, universities, NGO’s) and individual clients on their communication strategies towards regufees skills
  • Project management of our lobbying and advisory activities
  • Managing Yalla Foundation’s existing network and extending it
  • Conducting the board meeting
  • Strategic and short term management of the organization
  • Coordination of volunteers and team-building


  • You have the skills or relevant experience in one of the above activities
  • You are proactive, motivated and ready take iniative
  • You are interested in other culture and exchanging knowledge
  • You are a team player and feel at home in a culturally diverse environment
  • Writing, reading and speaking Dutch is an advantage
  • You are available for minimum one day per week
