It is an basic health insurance, like all people staying in The Netherlands have. Plus some extra items are covered.

If you go out, always carry your:
– Vreemdelingendocument (temporary ID pass)
– Care Card
HOW TO REACH CARE?
Are you at the asylum seeking centre?
Visit GCA or the appointed family doctor. If they think in your situation medicine or extra specialist checks are necessary, they will tell you.

Or in case of an emergency, go to a doctor with your ID and care card.
HOME MEDICINE& PREVENTION
Not insured is free available home medicine.
These you can buy at pharmacies or normal drugstores without prescription.
Like: paracetamol, ibuprofen, thermometers, etc.
Try to get it first at GCA, the pharmacy at the shelter or somewhere else (Red Cross). If they do not provide you with them, you can buy it yourself or just ask for help from volunteers.
Please read and know exactly how to use them!
TIP:
Contraceptives (the pill to not get pregnant and other things like condoms) are also available within your insurance!

GLASSES INSURED?
Are you in the AZC and do you have broken or old glasses or you need new contact lenses? You can after 6 weeks of being insured:
- Go to GCA and tell them
- Go to Pearl glasses shop to have your eyes measured
Take someone who can translate with you - Only one pair of basic glasses or contact lenses per 36 months (18+) are covered by the health insurance.
